Rocking Around the Christmas Tree… I’ve got Christmas songs stuck in my head during these last 2 days before Christmas! I’m continuing with our Holiday Home Tour and sharing our Dining Room! Check it out!
This is the room where we keep the liquor, haha. I don’t drink mixed drinks like I used to, I prefer wine or champagne in my old age, lol. So this stock is really here for parties or the occasional celebratory cocktail.
I love this dresser turned buffet. When we bought our house I wanted a cheap but nice/functional buffet style table for the Dining Room. The hubby and I were in the Restore (Habitat for Humanity) and while he was on the opposite end of the store, I spotted this dresser. It was a chestnut brown at the time but had lovely character so I knew it would suit what I was looking for. We met back in the middle of the store when the hubby said that I have to come see this dresser that he found because his mother (who passed) had the exact same one in the house where he grew up. Now, a little back story – he grew up in Florida and we currently live in Virginia. So we walk over to the exact dresser that I saw earlier. After hearing him tell me that his mother had this exact one (and I already loved it), we had to have it. I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint: Old Orchre and gave it a few coats of polyurethane on top for durability.
Here is a view from our mudroom/garage entrance. You can see how the dining room is right off the foyer/front door and Formal Living room. We have a skinny Christmas tree in the dining room front window decorated with gold ornaments.
We have gingerbread houses that the kids made with their friends as a centerpiece on the table. My handmade burlap table runner (that I use year-round) sits underneath some red checkered fabric that I’m using as a Holiday runner (no sewing required!).
The buffet includes a handmade “JOY” sign which I made last year, Mary and Jesus figure (gifted to us) and a Ribbon Christmas Tree that I picked up when I worked retail – the store I worked at had these on displayed and gave them away to employees – which I’ve for several years now. A simple burlap wrapped wreath (handmade as well) hangs in front of the mirror, which I usually add seasonal flare to so I simply pinned some red flowers on for Christmas.
I have more to share tomorrow – Christmas Eve, when I will reveal our freshly painted Kitchen cabinets with Before & After pictures! Happy Holidays!
