Happy Spring! I decided to add a few touches to Aj’s bedroom this weekend and share some of the progress. It is still not finished since we moved around some of the wall art and still need to re-hang a few items. I added this cute nautical wreath to his door, updated some boring white lamps and added another canvas stenciled painting with the other ones I made him a few months ago.
This wreath was super easy and my inspiration came from this blog. I wanted to make him a wreath for his door since Leela has one on her bedroom door, this one that I made for her 3rd Birthday party 2 years ago (with the 3 removed).
I used a foam wreath, white and navy yarn and jute robe for this project.
And I just started wrapping the yarn, no glue is really needed since you can just tie the yarn!
Then I ended up with something like this…
I ended up using a few (pearl head) pins (rather than glue) to keep the rope in place and cut a quick banner with my Cricut Explore and attached with some thread. This is a great wreath for Summer or Independence Day! I have a friend who is getting married in a couple months that is using something similar (like a life saver buoy) for her Nautical-themed Wedding on the back of the Bride and Groom chairs with banners that say Bride and Groom.
After that super easy project, I decided to use some of the leftover jute rope to update these boring white lamps in his room…
I just glued the rope to the bottom and tops of the lamp shade…
It still looked kind of boring, I know… So I just wrapped more rope on the lamp stand and this is what I ended up with…
It’s cute for now and maybe I will come up with something else after staring at them for a while.
I made two canvas prints for his room a few months ago (the striped ones) and decided to add this LOVE canvas.
These are so easy and all you need is freezer paper and painters tape to make a stencil and paint like I did. The ship wheel had a bit more detail so I cut a vinyl stencil with my Cricut.
His bedroom has one accent wall that we painted SW 6244 Naval and the other walls (and the stripe on this wall) is SW 7014 Eider White.
These are all of the pictures I have from his room updates at this time. He has this awesome ship wheel mirror that was hanging above his bed that I decided should go above his blue dresser, some painted oars that we need to hang and new shelves that we are going to hang on each side of his windows – but I have to stain them first! More to come later 🙂
