Many of these home improvement projects can be completed by ordering supplies online. If you can’t order supplies online, then I’d suggest seeing what items you can repurpose around your home.
Paint the Front Door
One of the things I did right away when we bought our homes painted the front door. Updating the front door makes a huge impact on curb appeal.
If you have already painted your front door and love the color, give it a fresh coat of paint to bring it back to life!

Stencil Tile Floors
Updating your floors is easy with paint and stencils.
If you love the idea of adding a design or updating your tile or linoleum floors but the idea of re-tiling or replacing linoleum doesn’t appeal to you, then stenciling your floor is probably your best solution.
In this tutorial, I share how to stencil tile floors, how do you keep paint from bleeding under stencils, and how to stencil the popular Spanish tile pattern on floors.
Sharpie Shiplap Walls
The cheapest and fastest way to update your walls is with the Sharpie Shiplap technique!
With this easy DIY hack, I had shiplap walls in 20 minutes and didn’t cut a thing! I painted the walls in our living room with Benjamin Moore’s White Dove before adding the sharpie shiplap.

Try Peel and Stick Wallpaper
I LOVE using peel and stick wallpaper in our home. One reason is that our walls are terrible. They are semi-textured and I hate the way they look so the easiest way to make them look better was to cover them up!
I started with 3 different peel and stick wallpaper designs in our home but ended up putting together this post as inspiration for later.

In this post, I share how I used $1 Dollar Tree shelf liner to transform my home decor! You are going to want to try this Dollar Store Hack Peel and Stick Wallpaper after seeing this transformation!
This peel and stick wallpaper is removable. It sticks to the wall but peels off easily without leaving a residue. I’ve tried Target peel and stick wallpaper and peel and stick wallpaper from Walmart and this Dollar Store shelf liner is just as good as other expensive floral peel and sticks wallpaper.

Paint Kitchen Cabinets
If you love white farmhouse kitchens and want to paint your kitchen white, then you should try painting your kitchen cabinets.
Many people are scared to paint cabinets and I don’t know why.
If you are wondering how to paint laminate kitchen cabinets, rest assured! Our cabinets are a combination of Plywood (the inside and the frame), Particle Board wrapped in Laminate (the doors), and Formica (the side under the bar).
With all three of these materials to paint, I needed to choose the RIGHT paint for our kitchen cabinets. You can be sure that if your Kitchen cabinets are made with any of these materials, you can try the same paint that I used and have great results!

If the weather is nice, updating your outdoor space will make a huge impact and is a quick home improvement project.
Your outdoor space might just need a quick deep cleaning or power washing to get things in order. If you like gardening, you can add flowers, herbs or a vegetable garden to your backyard.
We recently added a DIY outdoor bar to our outdoor space, built a huge farmhouse-style table, and hung an inexpensive hammock. These additions made a big impact on our outdoor space!
You can also update your front entryway by painting the front door, adding comfortable seating, and creating a welcoming entrance by cleaning the space.

Rearrange Furniture
A fun project to try is to rearrange the furniture in your home.
Move items from room to room to easily update any space! I do this all the time with wall signs and rugs and it’s fun to change things around 🙂
I’ve even seen parents switch bedrooms with their children and give multiple kids the bigger room in the house and it ends up working out better than before.
Move your sofa, bed, entryway table, etc. Have fun experimenting with different layouts.
Declutter and Minimize

How to pick the right paint colors
Have you ever had trouble picking the right paint colors for your home? Choosing the right paint colors for your home can be overwhelming. There are so many different “whites” and “grays” these days, how can anyone know they are making the right paint color choice?
That’s why I put together the best tips on How to Choose Interior Paint Colors in this post.
Every home is different… the entryway in our first home was much different than the entryway in our second home, and both of those were very different from the entryway in our third home! So I chose a different paint color for each entryway in all three of our homes. Not to mention, from the time that we bought our first home, to the time that we bought our third home, home paint color trends changed drastically. The colors that I used back then are no longer a trendy color and well, I just didn’t like the brown-ish tan that was in our first home, haha.
So if you need help choosing paint colors for the rest of your home, head on over to this post to see my paint-picking tips and what has worked for me in all three of our homes 🙂 My post with how to choose paint colors for your home is one of my most popular posts and readers have benefited from reading it before heading to the store to buy paint that ends up not working out.
I also have some ideas for choosing paint color combinations for bedrooms (with themes!)
Paint Versus Peel & Stick Wallpaper
Peel and stick wallpaper has become very popular recently since not everyone has access to tools to build their own Shiplap walls (thanks Chip and Joanna) or wants to tile an entire wall with subway tile. I love tiling but if I could slap up some wallpaper and call it a day, that would make me, the hubby, and my wallet happy!
You can find peel and stick wallpaper online at Target, Amazon, Home Depot, and more! I’ve linked my favorite peel and stick wallpaper and the ones I’ve used personally below.
